Live Auction: Join the Journey
Join the Journey: 4-day, 3-night trip to Washington D.C. with Class 15:
Two lucky people will join Class 15’s Transformational Journey on a four-day, three-night trip to Washington D.C. from June 7-10. Hotel and airfare included. The estimated value of this package is $2,000. But, when you think about the people you may get to meet and the places you get to see, some may say it’s priceless! In the past, winners of this package have joined the students’ meetings with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Congressman John Lewis, Holocaust survivor Marione Ingram, historian Dr. C.R. Gibbs, and professor Dr. Coleman McCarthy, just to name a few. (See below photo of this year’s guests with Justice Ginsburg.) They have also visited the Smithsonian Museum for African American History and Culture and the United States Holocaust Museum. While the itinerary is subject to change, the trip is guaranteed to be a life-changing. Starting bid is $2,900, but the experience is worth more than money can buy! Dates: June 7-10, 2020 (Sunday-Wednesday)
Golden Ticket Raffle: Experience Cultural Leadership
Congratulations to our three Golden Ticket Raffle winners!
Prize 1: Journey to Justice: 4-day, 3-night trip to D.C. with Class 15:
See description above.
Dates: June 7-10
Prize 2: Attend two or the following Sunday programs: African American History and Culture, Jewish History and Culture, or African American/Jewish Relations and Organizing:
Cultural Leadership students participate in seven Sunday workshops over the course of the year. Of these, two are about Jewish history and culture, and two are about African American history and culture. Another is about the historical relationship between the Black and Jewish communities. This package enables you to attend two out of the three sessions of your choice.
Dates: Black History and Culture is September 22, 2019; Jewish History and Culture is October 6, 2019. Black/Jewish Relations and Organizing is Dec. 15, 2019. All of these programs are Sundays from 2-6pm.
Prize 3: Cultural Leadership’s Holiday Swap: Join a Class 15 student on both legs of their Holiday Swap. Cultural Leadership’s Holiday Swap is meant to expose people to religions and traditions that they may normally never experience. For example, a Jewish student will join his/her Christian classmate for an Easter Sunday service and brunch, and then that Jewish student will host him/her for a Passover Seder. Seders are normally on the first or second night of Passover. If you want to broaden your horizons and enjoy some home-cooked, traditional meals, you will love this package!
Dates: Easter Sunday is April 12, 2020; Passover Seder will be on April 8 or 9, 2020.
